This morning I went on a walk with a friend in a local park, where there is a 4.3 mile loop that winds through woods, along a creek, and along side a corn field. It was a brilliant morning, so I took some pictures:
This is a benign looking KILLER HILL
Note the field of dead corn stalks to the left of this tree. The colors are berries, not leaves. Any idea what kind of tree this is?
Unbelievably beautiful light on the water. And the sound of the water moving is all around.
I could post more, but you get the idea. I hope you have a place to see such natural beauty. I never go to this park where I don't have a spiritual experience of some kind. We were lucky this morning, because when we started out, it was very cloudy. By the time we got to the park, the sun was moving in and out of light clouds, making this a perfect day for a photo op.
After the walk, I stopped at the local Farmers' Market to pick up some fruit.
Here's what I got! It's hard to say goodbye to summer fruits and berries, but now we'll have apples and pears, locally grown, and in season. Actually, the peaches here, according to the Lancaster County farmer from whom I purchased these, will likely be the last for this year.
Weekends rock! For many years I had to work weekends, often odd shifts that necessitated me sleeping through the days. I'm grateful to have a job now where I don't have to do that.
On the food front, I'm on solid ground for now, though it's always one day at a time, one right choice at a time. There is healthy food on hand, a husband willing to give me a neck rub, and several new knitting projects waiting. All in all, a good day.
Sounds like you are in for a great weekend. That park is amazingly beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI hear you on working odd shifts and hours. I have done that for years, too. My daughter works night shift now. It makes a big difference to be able to sleep at night.
I love apples and citrus, but oh I will miss the strawberries and melons!
Hi Leslie. Looks like you had a beautiful walk. Fabulous photos. And then onto the farmer's market. So perfect! I could just eat one of those pears!
ReplyDeleteHope your weekend continues to be wonderful.
Best wishes,
Bearfriend xx
Man, I totally wish I had a beautiful place like that to walk where I lived. We do have a place to walk that has nature all around it, but it's not nearly that pretty. Thanks for sharing those lovely pictures.
ReplyDeleteWhat WONDERFUL pictures. Do you live in Lancaster, PA? I lived there from 1997-2000. I loved it there...especially the Farmers Market!
ReplyDeleteIs that Pennsylvania? Always loved it up there...used to travel to upstate NY with a previous boyfriend during the summers. Gorgeous pics....water is my therapy...so jealous! Sounds like you're having a perfect weekend. I'm so glad. :)
ReplyDeleteall I can say is gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous.... and why do you have a camera when you run?!?
ReplyDeleteActually I live in suburban Philly in a town called Media. The pictures are in Ridley Creek State Park. And Natalie, I was walking, not running! I'd love to run, but have been told to avoid it due to arthritis in my left foot. Maybe when I lose more #s!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pictures, neck rubs, good food.. that's the life right there.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful weekend Leslie! Thanks so much for sharing it with us. It all sounds so relaxing.........sigh.
ReplyDeleteLoved the phrase "benign looking killer hill". Yep, we've got lots of those around here too!
Great pictures . You have a new line of work . Sell them to a magazine. Go luck getting up that killer hill.
